Page, by Tamora Pierce

I’m clobbered again today, but I’m alert enough to tell you that this Tamora Pierce series continues to be good. Page is great. I devoured it despite my sleep deprived state.

All the things I said last week about First Test feel like they still apply here. The arc of Keladry’s story moves smoothly, paying off the elements established in the prior book and (no surprise here) setting up more for us to enjoy in the next two books. I’m nearly finished with Squire, and am eagerly looking forward to Lady Knight.

And once again, I wish I’d read these books around when they came out. I wonder what it would have been like for me to read this in the year 2000. I wonder whether I’d have been able to enjoy it, without adding to the bullying already directed my way.
